I Got Hurt on the Job: Can You Help?

I Got Hurt on the Job: Can You Help?

In 2019, an estimated 2.4 million people visited emergency rooms in the United States due to workplace injuries. Not only can these injuries lead to ongoing pain, they can also interfere with your ability to work, and you just want your life to return to normal.

At Valiant Life Medical, our team is proud to offer integrative medicine services to help improve the quality of your life, including your work life.

Here’s a look at the many ways we can help you when you’ve been injured on the job.

The most common workplace injuries

Before COVID-19 struck in 2020, the most commonly reported workplace injuries involved:

Breaking a couple of these down a little further, the primary results of overexertion and bodily reaction was back pain, while sprains, strains, and tears were often the result of slips, trips, and falls. In each of these cases, the average time lost at work was 14 days.

Helping with workplace injuries

The more common results of workplace injuries that we outline above — back pain and soft tissue damage — happen to be areas in which we excel.

For example, if you strain your back or neck at work, we can help relieve your pain and help you heal more quickly through chiropractic care and physical therapy

More specifically, through chiropractic care, we can realign your spine to encourage resources to flow more freely, which can help speed up the healing in your soft tissues. Then, with physical therapy, we can help strengthen your back or neck to not only relieve your current issue, but to prevent back or neck pain from recurring in the future.

If you’ve damaged soft, connective tissue at work, including a ligament or tendon, we can help these tissues to heal more quickly through our regenerative medicine services, including platelet-rich plasma therapy. These approaches are designed to supply your damaged tissues with a boost in healing and regenerative resources to promote faster healing.

If you combine our regenerative medicine services with physical therapy, we can help you navigate your workplace injury more quickly and safely.

What to do when you’re hurt on the job

Depending upon the severity of your workplace injury, we urge you to seek help sooner rather than later. If it’s a severe injury, you should head to your nearest emergency room. If it’s more of a nagging injury, you should come see us as soon as you’re able.

At the same time, you should work with your employer and the Texas Department of Insurance to activate your workers’ compensation, if that’s your objective.

While we can certainly do our part in restoring function and relieving pain after a workplace injury, we can also help you with the documentation you need for your claim.
